  • You should always monitor your credit report once a week. Most credit card companies allow accessing your account information online. Log on often and verify your transaction to see if there isn’t any fraud entry.
  • Be alert for any suspicious mail or phone call that indicates any fraud. If someone has used your credit card you may get calls or letters regarding services you never ordered. You can follow up with the caller to identify the fraud.
  • Check the accuracy of bill whenever you purchase something online and the details of every object you buy.
  • Request an annual copy of your credit card from the three major credit bureaus. Equifax, TransUnion and Experian provide a free copy each year.
